With more than 1,000 towns and cities and a population thatās just over 6.1 million people, itās fair to admit that certain parts of the Show-Me State are easier to gloss over than others, with certain Missouri areas falling by the memory wayside overall.
Of those cities, the places in Missouri that were forgotten the most in a recent survey included Kansas City area suburb Blue Springs and St. Louis suburb OāFallon, while the stateās capital city and places like St. Charles and St. Joseph were up there as well.
While waiting on more Missouri sports betting updates, BetMissouri.com wondered which big Missouri cities tend to be forgotten the most. A quiz on Sporcle.com asked respondents to fill in the blanks for the top 10 most populous cities in Missouri. We then ranked the cities based on the percentage of people who remembered them within the quizās time limit.

Which Missouri Cities Are The Most Forgotten?
Overall, no city in Missouri was remembered less than the K.C. area hamlet known as Blue Springs, with 24.8% of respondents correctly guessing the Jackson County city with a population just over 58,000 people.
That figure put Blue Springs behind other suburban parts of the Show-Me State like OāFallon (28.2%), Leeās Summit (32.8%), St. Charles (42.9%) and St. Joseph (43.9%).
Throw in fellow suburban hotspot Independence (53.3%) and the home of the University of Missouri (Columbia, at 63.3%) and you have the majority of the Missouri forgotten cities list covered, with places like Springfield (69.2), Kansas City (93.5%) and St. Louis (94.5%).
All in all, none of those Missouri hamlets held a candle to the stateās most forgotten place, though, with Blue Springs taking home that distinction in 2025, ahead of a worthy cast of Show-Me State hotspots.
