After starting the season 5-0, the Missouri Tigers could not take the next step to compete for a College Football Playoff berth. Of their final seven games, the Tigers lost four, all against ranked teams. Mizzou ended the regular season with Saturday’s 31-17 win at Arkansas.

Missouri (8-4 overall, 4-4 SEC) is bowl eligible and, after sports betting launched statewide on Monday, fans can wager on it.

With Missouri sports betting apps now taking bets, BetMissouri.com has updated odds on where the Tigers will play a bowl game.

For the past few weeks, we honed on the Liberty Bowl as the likely destination for the Tigers. However, as we get closer to the unveiling of the College Football Playoff field on Sunday, it’s now apparent the SEC will not have enough bowl eligible teams to fill the seven games affiliated with the conference. That’s because the conference is certain to get at least four and could get five teams in the Playoff.

If five SEC squads make the 12-team CFP field, then there would not be enough league teams to go around for all of the other bowls with SEC tie-ins – the Citrus, Gator, ReliaQuest, Duke’s Mayo, Texas, Music City and Liberty. In a game of musical chairs, two of those bowls will be left without SEC teams, and it looks more than likely that the Liberty Bowl will be one of those.

With that in mind, BetMissouri has now installed the Texas Bowl as the new favorite to land Mizzou. Like the Liberty Bowl in our previous projections, the game in Houston could set up a matchup for the Tigers against one of their old Big 12 foes.

Either way, folks in the Show Me State can now take advantage of our Missouri sports betting promos at BetMissouri.com as they sign up with sportsbook operators.
