Missouri is home to several prominent and successful sports teams, but which one offers the best value? That’s up to interpretation. For some, it may mean the least expensive option. Others factor the gameday experience into their decisions, while there’s a group that just wants to see their team win.

Ahead of the Dec. 1 Missouri sports betting launch, BetMissouri.com reviewed the cost for a family of four to attend a game for each of the major pro teams in the state’s metro areas, plus Missouri Tigers football and men’s basketball:

Missouri Sporting Event Cost Takeaways

It’s not a shock that the Chiefs and the Missouri Tigers football games are the most expensive, considering these teams by far play the fewest games of any listed on here. This year, the Chiefs will play nine regular-season games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Mizzou Tigers have eight home games in Columbia.

The difference in the cost to attend Major League Baseball games is likely because more people attend St. Louis Cardinals games than Kansas City Royals games.

This past season, the Cards averaged 27,777 fans per home game, nearly 6,000 more than the Royals. However, the cost to attend a baseball game in St. Louis could dip in the future because attendance at Busch Stadium is plummeting. Once one of MLB’s most consistent winning franchises, the Cardinals have often averaged more than 40,000, putting them besides the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers for highest attendance. However, that average fell by more than 30% from 2023 to last season.

Major League Soccer matches are the most affordable option by far in both of Missouri’s major metropolitan areas. Both teams play in two of the league’s smaller stadiums, with 17 regular-season MLS games per year (plus possible games in other competitions). St. Louis City SC is the newer of the two squads, and demand for tickets has been consistent since the franchise joined MLS in 2023.

Sporting KC plays in the Kansas side of the metro and has seen attendance fluctuate. In 2024, Sporting KC averaged a record 21,193 fans per game. This past season, that figure was 16,604, the fifth-smallest average in the league.

Soccer is also represented on our chart by the National Women’s Soccer League’s local entry, the Kansas City Current. That team is more expensive than either of its men’s soccer counterparts on our list – but then, with the best record in the NWSL this season, the Current is faring better in 2025, a year when both MLS clubs missed the playoffs.
