Which Missouri Sports Team Will Win It All Next?
The 2025 NWSL postseason did not go as planned for the Kansas City Current. The Current (21-3-2) compiled the most regular-season wins in league history, winning the NWSL Shield by 19 points. But a first-round postseason exit against eventual league champion Gotham FC, the No. 8 seed, was a disappointing end.
That’s not to say that Missouri’s lone women’s professional side can’t run it back.
Given the Kansas City Current’s regular season success in 2025 (with a league-high 65 points in 26 matches), it seems safe to bet on the club to be Missouri’s next champion with Missouri sportsbook apps. That’s why we still have them listed at +150 odds to do so.

Kansas City Chiefs 2025-26 Season
Outside of Kansas City’s women’s soccer club, keep an eye on the 6-6 Kansas City Chiefs as a potential Missouri championship spoiler, even with their 6-6 record entering December.
Coach Andy Reid’s team holds +400 odds on our odds board (and +1800 Super Bowl LX odds on FanDuel Sportsbook Missouri).
Given the Chiefs’ recent postseason success, with five Super Bowl trips and three wins since 2019, it’s never wise to write off Reid and company too early.

Which Other Missouri Teams Could Win It All?
Nobody else in the Show Me State seems to be that close to title contention right now. But if the Chiefs don’t win another title soon and the Current cannot maintain their dominant form, don’t rule out the 2019 Stanley Cup-champion St. Louis Blues of the NHL.
We list coach Joe Montgomery’s bunch at +1800 odds to be the next Missouri Team to win a championship. The Blues (9-11-7) are three points out of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference as of Dec. 1. At BetMGM Sportsbook Missouri, they have +10000 Stanley Cup odds this season. But remember, their lone title came thanks to a second-half surge and a memorable run in the 2019 NHL playoffs.
The Blues rank ahead of the Missouri Tigers’ football (+4500) and men’s basketball (+9000) teams. The Tigers are headed to a bowl but not to the College Football playoff this season. The men’s basketball team is off to an 8-0 start in the 2025-26 campaign, but tests tonight at Notre Dame and on Sunday against Kansas await.
The state’s lone MLS side, St. Louis City SC, is at +20000 on our chart, followed by Missouri’s two MLB franchises, the St. Louis Cardinals (+30000) and Kansas City Royals (+60000).
The National League’s Cardinals have had three consecutive seasons where they missed the playoffs. The AL’s Royals have made one postseason trip since winning the World Series in 2015, that was K.C.’s ALDS loss in four games to the New York Yankees in 2024.
At Caesars Sportsbook Missouri, the Royals have +4000 odds to win the 2026 World Series and the Cards are languishing on the operator’s board at +7500.
For now, we’re going with the hot hand when it comes to picking the next team in the state to win a championship. The NWSL’s Current stands head and shoulders above their local peers, earning them the right to be the current in-state favorite to be the first title-winning team after the launch of legal, regulated Missouri sportsbooks.
