So we at BetMissouri.com compiled some hypothetical odds for which Missouri team will win some hardware next. The state’s National Women’s Soccer League team holds down our top spot.

Which Missouri Sports Team Will Win It All Next?
Right now, it’s hard to argue against the league table leader in the NWSL, which plays at CPKC Stadium, the first soccer-specific facility in America dedicated to hosting a women’s professional team, in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Kansas City Current sits 18 points ahead of the next closest team, the Washington Spirit, in the regular-season standings with a 20-2-2 record (62 points) this season. Coach Vlatko Andonovski’s club has easily clinched the NWSL Shield, for team with the best regular-season record, with two games remaining.
The Current holds commanding odds of +125 at Caesars Sportsbook to win the NWSL title in November. That’s well ahead of the Spirit at +200 and New Jersey/New York Gotham at +500 based on Kansas City’s commanding lead in the league table.
That, and the fact that the NWSL playoffs will conclude in November, means a recipe for the Kansas City women’s soccer club to hold down the top spot on our odds board, at -150 (or 60%).
The only bad news is that, if KC captures the franchise’s first NWSL title (not to be confused with the FC Kansas City team that won two NWSL titles but folded after 2017), fans on the eastern side of the state border will have to go to neighboring Kansas to wager on it. The Missouri sportsbook apps launch will take place several days after the NWSL season ends.
Where Do The Kansas City Chiefs Fall In Line?
The NWSL’s Current – of which Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a co-owner along with his wife, Brittany – is ahead of the team that Mahomes plays for. Again, timing is a big factor, with the NWSL wrapping up its season a few months before the NFL does.
After an 0-2 start, the Chiefs are 3-3 and the AFC West stalwarts are No. 2 on our Missouri championship board, at +200 odds. At a handful of sportsbooks nationwide as of Oct. 16, coach Andy Reid’s team is +650 to win Super Bowl 60 in February. Those odds put Kansas City in a tie with the Buffalo Bills for No. 1 on the board at DraftKings, FanDuel and Caesars, with both teams just ahead of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions for the top spot in the 32-team league.
The Current and Chiefs are the top contenders to capture Missouri’s next championship, but don’t rule out the nationally ranked Missouri football team. The Tigers (5-1) hold +5000 College Football Playoff title odds at DraftKings, along with +4000 odds with several other operators halfway through the regular season.
As far as we’re concerned, Eli Drinkwitz’s bunch from Columbia are a distant third on our next Missouri championship team odds, at +4500. The CFP will wrap up in January, ahead of the NFL but well after the NWSL – the women’s soccer league wraps up on Nov. 22, the same date that Mizzou plays Oklahoma in Norman. In the meantime, we’re updating Missouri football bowl projections every week.
Longshots to be the next team in MO to claim leaguewide hardware are going to have to wait a while for a chance. The NHL’s St. Louis Blues (+4750) just started their regular season last week. The Mizzou basketball team, St. Louis City SC of Major League Soccer and the state’s two MLB teams (the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals) lag well behind on our board.
For now, we’re going with the hot hand when it comes to picking the state’s next league champs. The Kansas City Current stand head and shoulders above the rest of the NWSL, earning them the right to be the current favorite to bring a championship home to the Show-Me State as Missouri sports betting prepares to go live at the start of December.
