BetMGM has confirmed its entry to Missouri ahead of the December 1 launch date.
That comes after Century Casinos (CNTY) announced it had partnered with BetMGM as part of a "long-term agreement" to bring the brand to the Missouri sports betting market.
"We are excited to partner with BetMGM, a leading online sports betting and gaming entertainment company with a dynamic and innovative brand" stated Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos. "This partnership is another step forward in leveraging our Missouri licenses and delivering premium entertainment experiences for our customers."
BetMGM-Century Casinos Partnership Details
BetMGM's deal with Century Casinos allows the operator to offer an online and mobile wagering app via Century's gaming license, meaning that once sports betting launches, BetMGM Sportsbook Missouri will be one of the top options.
Under the terms of the agreement, Century will receive a percentage of net gaming revenue (NGR) from BetMGM's operations, as well as the option to operate a retail sportsbook.
Century operates two casinos in Missouri: Century Casino Caruthersville and Century Casino Cape Girardeau.
Sports betting law for the Show-Me State dictates that each of the state's casino operators may partner with a brand for retail and mobile sports betting. Century is the first casino operator to confirm a sportsbook partnership with a brand, though Century does not have an in-house sportsbook in its other states of operation. Instead, Century has partnered with Caesars Sportsbook and bet365 in other sports betting states.
Launch Timeline for Missouri
The launch timeline for mobile Missouri sports betting apps and retail sportsbooks isn't as quick as we had hoped.
Now, it looks like sports betting will go live on December 1, the last day that the Missouri Gaming Commission had to get wagering up and running.
Until then, the sportsbook application window has opened (May 15), so interested parties may apply to operate sports betting. Those interested in offering an "untethered" license – meaning the license is not tied to a local casino operator or sports team – must submit applications by July 15.
The winners of those "untethered" licenses will be announced by August 15. All other license applications are due a month later on September 12.
Other Eligible Licensees
As noted above, sports betting law allows the state's six casino operators and six professional sports teams to partner with operators.
Aside from Century Casinos, these casino operators may also partner with sportsbooks:
- Affinity Interactive (Mark Twain Casino, St. Jo Frontier Casino)
- Boyd Gaming (Ameristar Casino Kansas City, Ameristar Casino St. Charles)
- Bally's Corporation (Bally's Kansas City)
- Caesars Entertainment (Harrah's Kansas City, Horseshoe St. Louis, Isle of Capri Casino Boonville)
- PENN Entertainment (Argosy Casino & Hotel, Hollywood Casino St. Louis, River City Casino)
And these sports teams can partner with sportsbooks:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Kansas City Current
- Kansas City Royals
- St. Louis Blues
- St. Louis City SC
- St. Louis Cardinals*
*The St. Louis Cardinals have already partnered with bet365 Missouri.
