Kansas City Royals Top 5 Promotional Game Themes

Kansas City Royals Top 5 Promotional Game Themes
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

It has been nine seasons since the Kansas City Royals won their second World Series title and eight years since the team finished with a .500 record. However, with shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. emerging as a superstar, there’s hope the team will see its fortunes turn around in the near future.

Like most teams, losing on the field has led to losing in the stands as well. After welcoming a team-record 2.7 million fans into Kauffmann Stadium during the 2015 pennant-winning year, Kansas City is now drawing less than half that total. Only 1.3 million fans came to the park last season, when the Royals matched the 2005 squad with a franchise-worst 56-106 record.

With 81 home games each year, MLB teams often resort to special promotions or themed games to attract new fans and help bring back old ones. The Royals are no exception. So BetMissouri.com, your source for updates on efforts to legalize Missouri sports betting, wanted to know which promotions excited Kansas City fans in the 2024 season.

Our team surveyed Royals fans on Reddit to find out their favorite themed nights. Then, we ranked the top five promotions according to their votes. This survey was taken from March 22-25, 2024.

Kansas City Royals Best Theme Nights

Rank Theme % of Votes
1 Star Wars Night 60%
T2 Bark at the Park 15%
T2 Dollar Dog Night 15%
4 Health Awareness Nights 6%
5 Nurses Night 4%

The Force Is Strong In Kansas City

Several teams host Star Wars-themed games, and the Royals are holding theirs May 4 – as in May the Fourth be with you. The Royals host the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers at 6:10 p.m. Central. Fans who purchase a special ticket will receive a Witt bobblehead featuring the team’s youngest player wielding a lightsaber instead of a bat.

The next two promotions on our list will be held multiple times during the season. Kansas City will hold “Bark at the Park” nights on April 23 against the Toronto Blue Jays, May 21 against the Detroit Tigers and Sept. 3 against the Cleveland Guardians. Fans who buy the “Bark at the Park” package for those games can bring a dog and receive a Royals-themed item.

Every Tuesday home game at Kauffmann Stadium will also be a Dollar Dog Night, where fans can get the traditional ballpark snack for just $1.

On July 26, the Royals will hold Brain Health Awareness Night when they face the Chicago Cubs. Postgame fireworks are scheduled and the first 15,000 fans will go home with a Royals-themed Patrick Mahomes bobblehead.

The team will also honor area nurses on May 3. Nurses who purchase or receive a ticket package for the game against the Rangers will also get a Royals-themed stainless steel tumbler.

Sports betting is legal in neighboring Kansas, where you can get -110 odds on the Royals winning more or fewer than 74.5 games this season at DraftKings Sportsbook. As for Missouri sportsbook apps, the Royals and other pro sports teams across the state hope to get a measure on the November ballot to legalize wagering in the Show-Me State. BetMissouri.com is your top source for the latest news on those developments, as well as other gaming news and sports analysis.
