The process towards Missouri's sports betting launch date of Dec. 1 is in full motion.
The Show Me State's sports betting rules are currently open for public comment until Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with a public hearing on the matter scheduled for Thursday, July 17 (10 a.m. CT).
The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) released their sports betting regulations last month, which covers licensing, operations, and responsible gambling practices. The public comment period, which started on Thursday, July 3, allows the consumer to review and provide feedback on these rules via the MGC’s website.
The MGC's model includes two direct mobile standalone licenses with three operators applying (BetMGM, DraftKings, Underdog). The application period opened on May 15. The application deadline is on Tuesday, July 15.
Applicants will have an opportunity to appear before the MGC on Wednesday, August 13. Two days later, the MGC will award the two licenses on Friday, Aug. 15. For other retail and mobile licenses, an applicant must submit a completed application by Friday, Sept. 12, if that applicant wishes to offer sports wagering beginning on Dec. 1.
Legalized sports betting (Amendment 2) was passed (50.26%) by the voters in the state in November 2024 and will provide more than $28.9 million for education annually and a projection of more than $221.6 million in tax revenue.
