Missouri sports betting revenue fell sharply in June even as wagering activity remained close to May levels. The Missouri Gaming Commission reported $258.3 million in total sports wagers for the month, while taxable sports wagering revenue fell to $13.67 million.
June marked the seventh calendar month since regulated sports wagering launched in Missouri on Dec. 1, 2025.
Missouri Betting Revenue Falls in June
The $258.3 million handle represented an increase of about 0.8% from May's $256.36 million. However, taxable revenue dropped approximately 36% from the $21.25 million reported in May.
Taxable AGR amounted to about 5.29% of the June handle, down from 8.29% in May. The state collected approximately $1.37 million in sports wagering taxes during June, compared with about $2.13 million in May. The lower revenue came despite a similar wagering handle because taxable AGR represented a smaller share of total wagers than in May.
Mobile Wagering Remains Dominant
Mobile wagering continued to account for nearly all betting activity, with Missouri betting apps generating about 98.1% of the state's total handle in June.
DraftKings Kansas Sportsbook led the market with approximately $103 million in wagers across about 3.36 million bets. Parlays accounted for roughly 43% of statewide wagering handle. Based on the commission's detailed sport breakdown, soccer represented approximately 15.7% of statewide wagering handle, while baseball accounted for nearly 14.8%.
World Cup Coincided With Lower Revenue
While the industry waits for Missouri's July sports wagering numbers, June provides a look at how the market performed during the opening portion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament began June 11 and continued throughout the month. Missouri recorded approximately 7.34 million wagers in June, down about 12.2% from May, while taxable AGR represented a smaller share of the handle. The combination coincided with the decline in taxable sports wagering revenue from May.
