Sports betting applications are starting to come in for The Show-Me State.
On Wednesday, June 11, DraftKings and Underdog became the first two sports betting operators to file applications to officially operate Missouri sportsbooks, according to Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) public relations coordinator Elizabeth Hoffman.
The application period for all licenses opened on May 15, with an application deadline for the two available Direct Mobile Licenses due by July 15. Applicants for Direct Mobile Licenses shall have an opportunity to appear before the Commission on August 13, 2025, with the MGC announcing the two applicants selected for the available Direct Mobile Licenses on Aug.15. For all other Retail and Mobile Licenses, an applicant must submit a completed application by Sept.12, 2025, if the applicant wishes to offer sports wagering beginning on Dec. 1, 2025 - the state's official sports betting start date.

It is expected that BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and FanDuel will also officially submit applications.
Applications are the first step in the process, with applicants undergoing state investigations while the MGC works on establishing official wagering rules and regulations.
Even before sports betting operators are approved, some have entered into partnerships with state casinos. Two weeks ago, Century Casinos announced it is partnering with BetMGM Missouri to provide sports betting services, pending state approval.
Missouri is home to 13 casinos.
Chiefs' December Schedule
If everything goes according to schedule, sports bettors in the state will have the first opportunity to wager on Kansas City Chiefs games starting with the Dec. 7th Sunday Night home game versus the Houston Texans at 8:20 p.m. (NBC).
The wagering floodgates will open with St. Louis Blues games, college football, college basketball, with other sports betting opportunities available.
